My roommate in college, Katie, came home one day with two kittens and a promise: “I hope you don’t mind. I will care for them, love them, do everything for them – you won’t have to lift a finger.”
When we parted ways some time later, we made a quick exchange – my plant for her cats. I couldn’t help it, I was in love and absolutely adored Cici & Gracie. They were the center of my world until a few years ago (actually until May 5, 2008 – aka, Christopher’s birthday).
Those poor kitties went from being numero uno to almost forgotten about. Not to say they’ve been ignored – they still get food, water, clean litter and a spot on the bed. They just aren’t toted around and snuggled with all day everyday.
The lack of attention has really weighed on them since Emmy arrived, so much so that they are now in a mode of desperation. So desperate in fact that Gracie has taken to sitting with her head next to Emmy’s hand – and as Emmy uncontrollably wiggles her limbs, Gracie gets a good patting…
